Alan Curbishley admits some West Ham players will be upset to lose their place.
Alan Curbishley has no qualms about upsetting players as he accommodates his new West Ham United signings.
Since the opening of the transfer window, Curbishley has brought in Luis Boa Morte from Fulham and Nigel Quashie from West Bromwich Albion.
Both players are expected to make their first Premiership appearances for The Hammers in Saturday's London derby with Fulham.
Curbishley accepts the new arrivals could lead to noses being put out of joint at Upton Park in the coming weeks.
But it is a risk the Hammers boss is prepared to take as he looks to keep the club in the top flight.
"If Nigel Quashie plays this week it will upset someone," said Curbishley. "I can't avoid that. Luis coming in has also upset certain people.
"I am not saying I want to upset players, but I felt I needed to do something to keep everybody on their toes.
"I think I have done that. I have brought competition into the club. Now I hope people respond to it and we get some of the performances we need. That is all I am after.
"I am not really interested in individual problems. I have got to get that team winning some games. That is all I am after because the club comes first.
"We have got to fix the results and that starts at the weekend. We are third from bottom and we have to get out of that."
