Anton Ferdinand has been ruled out of West Ham's Uefa Cup clash with Palermo.
The talented defender picked up a hamstring injury in West Ham's 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend.
Ferdinand was forced to limp off with the problem midway through the first half at Eastlands.
Hammers boss Alan Pardew is unsure how long Ferdinand will be sidelined for, but has ruled him out of the trip to Italy on Thursday.
"I don't know when he will be back but it's an absolute certainty that Anton will not be available for the Palermo game," Pardew told the club's official website.
The news is a blow for West Ham as they travel to Italy looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.
