Scaloni wants Hammers return

Lionel Scaloni is hoping to secure a return to West Ham United.

Lionel Scaloni is hoping to secure a return to West Ham United to play alongside compatriots Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

The Argentina international spent the second half of last season on loan at Upton Park and made 17 appearances, including an outing in the FA Cup Final.

He returned to Deportivo La Coruna, only to have his contract cancelled by the Spanish outfit prior to Thursday's transfer deadline.

Reports have suggested that Scaloni's agent, and father, Angel is travelling to London to discuss a more permanent deal with The Hammers on Tuesday.

And, if he is offered a contract by the Premiership side, the full back admits he would be delighted to be playing alongside West Ham's recent Argentinian signings.

"To play with Tevez and Mascherano will be magnificent," said Scaloni.

Since leaving West Ham at the end of last term, Scaloni played in the World Cup finals with Argentina and has also been linked with Real Betis.

Hammers boss Alan Pardew, though, has also increased his options at right back by signing Tyrone Mears, John Paintsil and Jonathan Spector in the summer.
