Hammers out to grab Gabri

West Ham are thought to be planning a move for Barcelona midfielder Gabri.

West Ham are thought to be planning a move for Barcelona midfielder Gabri.

Hammers boss Alan Pardew is actively scouring the transfer market for reinforcements and has been alerted to Gabri's possible availability.

Gabri's current contract expires at the end of the season and he is considering leaving Barcelona in search of regular first team football.

It is believed that Gabri has not been offered a new deal by the Spanish giants and that they are willing to let him leave during this month's transfer window.

Reports emanating from Spain suggest Pardew is set to watch the player in action on Wednesday in the Copa del Rey before deciding whether or not to follow up his initial interest.

Gabri, who has battled back from a serious knee injury which ruled him out of most of last season, is a versatile performer who can play in a number of positions.

Pardew is thought to see Gabri as a key addition to his squad as he can play in midfield and also right back.

West Ham are looking at possible new defenders with Tomas Repka expected to leave Upton Park this month.

Meanwhile, West Ham are reported to have beaten London rivals Tottenham to the signature of Sadat Bukari.

Bukari came to the attention of West Ham and Spurs at the World Under-17 Championship in Peru.

Both clubs have been monitoring his progress since the tournament and Spurs were hoping to have him over on trial.

However, West Ham are believed to have stolen a march on their rivals by offering the forward a three-year deal.
