Roy Carroll believes he was right to move to West Ham United back in the summer.
West Ham United goalkeeper Roy Carroll believes he made the right decision by joining the Upton Park club.The Northern Ireland international joined Alan Pardew's side following his release from Manchester United at the end of last season.
The former Hull City and Wigan Athletic custodian revealed how impressed he is with The Hammers, stating that his move has allowed him to get more first-team action with the East London outfit.
"I could have stayed, he (United boss Sir Alex Ferguson) wanted me to," told the Daily Mail. "I could have sat on the bench, maybe played a few more games, but it wasn't for me.
"I am 28 and I need to be playing. Hopefully, I can play until I'm 37 at the top level and with West Ham.
"Manchester United is the biggest club in the world, but this wasn't a step back. It was a good move for me.
"It's an ambitious club. We are going places. When the offer came, I was given a chance of regular football.
"The manager, Alan Pardew, flew out to Portugal where I was on holiday. That impressed me.
"He spoke well of the club and the players. He was knowledgeable and sold the club to me.
"This is a good little club and our aim now is to finish in the top 10 or even higher."
