West Ham United could follow up their capture of Yaniv Katan by bringing in a striker from France.

Hammers boss Alan Pardew is anxious to add to his attack in the New Year and has already lined up a deal for Israel international Katan.

Though Pardew also has Bobby Zamora, Marlon Harewood, Teddy Sheringham, Jeremie Aliadiere and David Bellion in his ranks, his thirst for fresh firepower shows no signs of being quenched.

Reports in France suggest that Pardew is considering his interest in Rennes forward John Utaka and Lille's Matt Moussilou.

Utaka has not impressed with Rennes since joining from Lens over the summer and has mustered just two goals this term.

In addition to the player's poor form, Pardew may also be dissuaded from a bid for Utaka by the fact the Nigerian striker could be representing his country at the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

Moussilou has also struggled in front of goal this season, although he has played regularly in the UEFA Champions League, including against Manchester United.

Pardew is determined to build on West Ham's encouraging return to The Premiership and will carefully weigh up whether Utaka or Moussilou could add something different to his squad.
