Hammers axe Hutchison

West Ham manager Alan Pardew has allowed Don Hutchison to leave Upton Park.

West Ham United manager Alan Pardew has allowed Don Hutchison to leave Upton Park.

The former Scotland international has been beset by injury problems in recent seasons and was restricted to just six appearances last term.

With The Hammers having regained their place in The Premiership, Pardew has decided Hutchison is no longer required.

Hutchison's contract recently expired and Pardew has confirmed that the 34-year-old midfielder has left the club.

"I can confirm that Don Hutchison has left the club," Pardew told West Ham's official website.

"He's a great lad but his contract has expired and I thought that it was best for all concerned to let him move on. I certainly wish Don well for the future."

Hutchison returned to the capital for his second spell at Upton Park four years ago, following a £5 million switch from Sunderland.

He is likely to be followed out of the exit door by Steve Lomas, after the midfielder was told he can leave on a free transfer, despite having 12 months remaining on his contract.
