Ferdinand a happy Hammer

Anton Ferdinand has stated that he will not walk out on West Ham.

The defender, brother of Manchester United star Rio, has risen to prominence this term and his efforts have been rewarded with a new deal.

Ferdinand has seen a number of key players move on in the last 12 months, but he insists he has no plans to follow suit.

"For whatever reason, quite a few players have left and the fans don't like seeing that. It's understandable," he told The Sun.

"In a way, it has helped the next generation like myself, to get a toe-hold in the team.

"The way has been cleared for me and now I'm very excited about repaying the boss for having faith in me.

"I hope the supporters realise how committed I am to West Ham.

"My aim is to keep working hard, improving all the time and really establish myself as part of the team.

"Signing this new deal means a lot to me and I feel a lot more settled."
