Sunderland chairman Bob Murray says the club will be bringing players into The Stadium of Light this month, and not shedding any of their stars.

Julio Arca has been linked with Celtic and West Ham wanted Mart Poom to replace David James, but Murray has stressed that he is more concerned with signing players, such as Huddersfield Town hot-shot Jon Stead.

"No player who Mick (McCarthy) wants to keep will go in the window," he told Sunderland's official website.

"People are not welcome to make offers. If anyone has made any sort of approach at all, they've been told it's not needed.

"Arca and Poom will not go in the window, no matter what offers come in, because I'm determined to get Sunderland promoted and I want to give Mick every opportunity to make it happen."

Stead remains a top target for The Black Cats, who are looking to bounce back from humiliating relegation with promotion at the first attempt.

"If Huddersfield accept the offer, he could come," added Murray. "The bid for him is still on the table and, if Mick asks for another player, we'll try our best.

"If we get the chance to bring someone, now or after the window, we will consider it.

"I will do everything I can, without risking the future of the club, to finance the team and strengthen it further."
