The 30-year-old has bagged nine goals, all from open play this term, and been a driving force behind Argyle's outstanding form under highly-rated manager Paul Sturrock.
The FA Cup first round tie at Northampton Town at the weekend brought a clutch of talent-spotters to the game, with Friio understood to be one of the chief focuses of attention.
Leicester City manager Micky Adams was spotted in the stands, along with Bristol City boss Danny Wilson, and there were also representatives present from First Division duo West Ham and Ipswich Town.
Although Friio signed a two-year contract recently, the chance to play at a higher level may not have passed him by as the interest in his services is expected to build ahead of the January transfer window.
Consequently, Division Two pace-setters Plymouth may have to brace themselves for an offer in the New Year if the France-born player maintains his current high level of performance.
