DANNY HIGGINBOTHAM is the latest player rumoured to be on his way out of crisis club Derby County, with Southampton and West Ham United reportedly ready to swoop.

The Rams have already settled the contracts of many of their highest earners and would expect to recoup most of the £2 million they laid out for Higginbotham when they signed him from Manchester United in July 2000.

Fellow defender Chris Riggott and striker Malcolm Christie have also been linked with moves away from Pride Park but the club have yet to receive any firm offers.

All three are crucial to John Gregory's plans but the manager is aware that the club are in no position to turn down offers for any of the playing staff.
