LILLE defender Pascal Cygan has admitted that English Premiership outfit West Ham are interested in signing him.

The 26-year-old stopper, who has been in superb form for Lille this season helping them to second place in the table, has been attracting the interest of a lot of clubs across Europe.

The highly-rated ace admitted that some scouts from the club will watch the player in action in the next round of Le Championnat at Troyes.

Cygan has also admitted that he would be very interested in a move to England and that he "envisages very seriously" the transfer happening if West Ham make a suitable offer for the player.

West Ham boss Harry Redknapp is keen to add to his defensive options at Upton Park, having sold star defender Rio Ferdinand to Leeds United in November for a British record fee of £18 million.

He has already signed Rigobert Song and brought in Hannu Tihinen on loan since Ferdinand's departure, but he still has funds available to strengthen his squad and he may decide to pursue a move for Cygan.
