Nigel Worthington has not ruled out the possibility of keeping Nick Pope at York beyond the Charlton goalkeeper's current loan spell.
Pope has been a revelation for the Minstermen this season, fully justifying Worthington's decision to bring the goalkeeper back to the club in January after he had been recalled by Charlton from a previous loan spell in November.
The 22-year-old has kept 14 clean sheets in 20 appearances for York and Worthington singled him out for special praise ahead of Saturday's home game against Newport when the club hope to seal a play-off place.
"Every player in the squad has done their job this season, but one who certainly deserves a mention and who has made a big difference is Nick Pope," Worthington told Press Association Sport.
"He has been huge for us and any manager at this level would want to keep a goalkeeper of his quality at the club.
"He's contracted to Charlton so he's officially their player, but we'll look at the situation.
"If we could possibly get him back here that would be terrific; it would certainly be something we would look to sort out."
