Charlton see off Welling

Charlton began preparing for life in the Championship next season with a comfortable 4-0 friendly win over Welling United on Saturday.

All four goals came in the second half as the League One champions saw off their non-league neighbours. An own-goal from Joe Obersteller opened the floodgates before Michael Smith's header made it two. Skipper Johnnie Jackson found the net from the penalty spot after Danny Haynes was sent tumbling in the area, and Haynes completed the scoring with a near-post header from Dale Stephens' corner four minutes from full-time.
