Boss lauds Addicks character

Dale Stephens' stoppage-time equaliser secured the stalemate after the Shakers led through Lenell John-Lewis' 42nd-minute opener.

Bury kept their table-topping hosts at bay until they were finally undone at the death by Stephens' dramatic 93rd-minute strike.

"I've got to say to you that (opposition teams playing defensively) is going to happen a lot this year in the remainder of the season, especially here at The Valley. If teams nick a goal like Bury did, it is going to happen," said Powell. "But we've just got to remain calm and patient and we know we can create chances. It was 11-3 to us on the chances count and it was a superb goal, just an outstanding strike from Dale."

Powell added: "That's a good point. It is better than losing, although of course I want us to win each and every game.

"I sensed a little bit of frustration around the place but we should just remain calm and patient. It looked as if it was going to be a frustrating night for us and our unbeaten home record would have gone.

"But they are full of character the boys in the home team dressing room. They never know when they are beaten and it was an outstanding goal to rescue a point for us."
