Charlton could offer former loanee Leon Cort a permanent deal after learning that the defender is now a free agent.
Cort's loan stint at The Valley came to a premature end on Monday when he was recalled by parent club Burnley, who then cancelled his contract by mutual consent. It means the 32-year-old defender is now a free agent and searching for a new club. Addicks chief executive Stephen Kavanagh said: "Leon is now free to speak to other clubs and that includes us." Cort has made six appearances for League One leaders Charlton this season after making the move to south London in August.
