Swindon have agreed a deal to sign Charlton striker Paul Benson, with Leon Clarke heading in the opposite direction.

Benson, 32, has passed a medical at The County Ground and agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal. As part of the deal, Clarke, who has netted nine times in 14 league games on loan at Chesterfield, heads to The Valley on an 18-month contract. Robins boss Paolo Di Canio is delighted to secure Benson's services and said: "Paul is a player who we have been after for some time. "He will give us something extra and has been to the club for a medical. He trained on Saturday morning and I am sure he will settle well with the rest of the squad. "He may play a part on Monday against AFC Wimbledon. We are very pleased to have a deal in place."
