Addicks set for Jackson boost

Charlton could be handed a boost ahead of the congested Christmas fixture list with captain Johnnie Jackson nearing a return to action.

Jackson has not played for the Addicks since he injured his hamstring in the 1-0 victory over Brentford on November 19 but is now back in training. The current League One leaders would welcome Jackson's return with back-to-back trips to Yeovil and Leyton Orient to come before the new year. Manager Chris Powell told South London Press: "He's been running for a week and is now doing some light ball work. "There is a possibility he could be available around the Christmas and New Year fixtures but we'll have to see how he reacts once he ups his training intensity because at the moment he is only working with the fitness guy, our physio and Mikel Alonso. "If he comes through that then we'll welcome him back. Johnnie is a quality player and any team would miss him."
