Ephraim: I made the first move

Hogan Ephraim says he set the wheels in motion for his loan move from QPR to Charlton after shunning interest from Championship clubs.

The 23-year-old marked his home debut for the Addicks with a goal in Monday night's 2-0 win over Huddersfield. Speaking to Charlton's official website, Ephraim claimed the prospect of joining up with Chris Powell and assistant Alex Dyer - who he worked under in his formative years at West Ham - was enough to convince him to ignore enquiries from Championship clubs. He said: "There were a couple of clubs interested, but some of them weren't the right ones, so I sat down with my agent in a coffee shop and he named some clubs in the Championship, but there were only a few I would go to. "So I told him to ring up Alex Dyer and Chris Powell to see if they were interested, so I kind of made the first move. They were interested, so that was great to know, and I'm not regretting the move at all. "I know Alex from my time at West Ham and it's helped me settle in. His training is very good and Damian Matthew is a superb coach - I didn't know him before I came - and the manager gets involved too, so that was why I came here."
