Charlton boss Chris Powell has made his 18th signing of the summer by snapping up striker Michael Smith from Darlington.
The 19-year-old, who had a trial at Stoke City earlier this summer, has agreed a three-year contract at The Valley after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee. "Michael is a striker who came on trial with us at the end of last season and is one for the future," Powell told the club's official website. The Addicks are also believed to be close to agreeing a deal with Spanish defender Jose Manuel Rojas Olmedo from Club Deportivo San Roque de Lepe.
