Charlton defender Michael Morrison says he felt encouraged after the Addicks' 1-1 draw at Aldershot on Wednesday night.
Paul Benson nodded Charlton in front less than a minute into the second period, but Luke Guttridge fired the Shots level just after the hour mark.
Morrison, who joined the Addicks earlier this summer from Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee, was also pleased with how he fared alongside Matt Taylor.
He said: "In the first half we didn't really get going but in the second half we looked like we were doing alright until we gave away a sloppy goal.
"We're all getting to know each other and it's still early days.
"Matt is a big lad, can head the ball and I think it can work well. Communication is a big part of it and it can only get better."
