Charlton boss Chris Powell was delighted with his players after their 2-1 triumph over Championship side Bristol City.
Johnnie Jackson headed a late winner for the Addicks as the English clubs clashed in the town of Lepe on the south coast of Spain on Tuesday.
"We had some really good passages of play," Powell told Charlton's official website.
"We created, all the strikers had chances to score, and we're keeping the ball better - which is what I've demanded.
"We've got some new players that are gelling. I must admit they've really surprised me by how quickly they've got on with one another.
"They're pushing one another to improve and be better and that's the sort of environment I want."
