Laws wants to keep Guidetti, while Cort could stay at Preston

Burnley are in talks to hang on to Manchester City striker John Guidetti and to allow Leon Cort to stay at Preston North End. Guidetti has scored once in four appearances for Burnley since the Swedish teenager joined the Championship club on loan last month. Brian Laws is keen to extend Guidetti's loan and has opened discussions with City regarding a deal ahead of the January transfer window opening. The Burnley boss also confirmed discussions have started with Preston about an arrangement which could see Cort stay at Deepdale. "We are in discussions with both parties over Leon and John," Laws told the club's official website. "Preston want to extend Leon's stay and we want John to remain here, so we are in negotiations at the moment and hopefully we can conclude them and make some decisions over the next few days." Cort has made three appearances during his loan spell at Preston, but missed Tuesday's 3-1 defeat by Middlesbrough due to an injury.
