Striker heads for Mediterranean island to join the Lions

Grzegorz Rasiak has joined Cypriot top-flight club AEL Limassol on a free transfer from Reading. The 31-year-old striker has failed to hold down a regular first-team spot under current manager Brian McDermott at the Madejski Stadium despite scoring the winner in last week's Carling Cup victory at Torquay. However, the veteran has been jettisoned after Noel Hunt's return from a long-term knee injury and now the Poland international has decided to end his time in England after plying his trade at a number of clubs including Derby and Southampton. Director of football Nick Hammond told the club's official website: "With the emergence of our young strikers and the return of Noel Hunt from injury, Grzegorz's chances of playing were going to be limited this season. "He is at an age where he wants to play regular football, he is fairly expensive for us and therefore this is a deal that I am happy with. It allows him to play and so it suits all parties. "He has been a consummate professional in his time here and I would like to wish both him and his family all the very best in Cyprus." Rasiak made 30 appearances for the Royals after joining them from Southampton, scoring 10 goals.
