Jonathan Fortune is training with former club Charlton Athletic as he looks for a contract for next season.
The 29-year-old ended over a decade with the Addicks last summer and eventually joined Sheffield United before being released at the end of the season.
The centre-half has rejoined Charlton for training after his disappointing campaign at Bramall Lane and featured in Tuesday night's friendly win over Welling.
"He asked to come in and train and has been training all week," said Charlton coach Mark Kinsella.
"He's keeping his options open and we can have a look at him at the same time.
"He wasn't ready to play on Saturday but fancied a run-out at Welling and we will see how it goes."
