Charlton have terminated the contract of defender Yassin Moutaouakil leaving the player free to find another club.
The Frenchman still had 13 months to run on his deal but the Addicks insist that the decision was made in the best interests of both parties.
The 23-year-old joined Charlton from Chateauroux for £400,000 in summer 2007, with the club having just lost their Premier League status, but has only gone on to make 29 appearances for the Addicks.
Rumours have surfaced suggesting that Moutaouakil possessed a bad attitude towards training as well as a reported altercation with former team-mate Harry Arter during one session leading many to believe that Charlton had grown tired of the Frenchman.
"After months of discussions, we've agreed that it would be best for all parties if Yassin left the club to pursue his career elsewhere," Charlton chief executive Steve Waggott said.
Moutaouakil spent the first half of the season on loan at SPL side Motherwell, playing 15 games, before returning to The Valley in January where he failed to make a single appearance in 2010.
