Clarets ace hoping boss can be persuaded to stay

Andre Bikey is hoping Owen Coyle will still be in charge at Burnley when he returns from international duty. The Clarets ace is set to jet off to the African Cup of Nations this week, where he will be try to help Cameroon land the continental crown. However, he leaves Turf Moor with uncertainty surrounding the future of highly-rated coach Coyle. The Scot, who helped guide Burnley into the Premier League last season, is wanted by top-flight rivals Bolton, who are looking to find a replacement for Gary Megson. Coyle has so far sought to distance himself from the Trotters post, while the Clarets are reluctant to let him leave, but the speculation refuses to go away. Bikey admits he is in the dark as to what could await him when he returns from Angola, but the former Reading man is desperate for Coyle to still be in the home dugout when he gets back. "No-one has spoken about it," he said.

Motivation

"He's shown that he is a good manager. That's why Burnley got promotion. "He gives us a lot of motivation and we hope that he will keep us going forward because the most important thing is the Premier League." Bikey signed off with Burnley on Saturday after helping them defeat MK Dons 2-1 in the FA Cup third round. He is pleased to be heading off on a high but admits he will be in regular contact with those at Turf Moor regarding the managerial situation. "I'm happy because my last game with the team was positive and now I can look forward to the African Cup," he added. "I have to think about that, but Burnley is my team and I will be getting information on Burnley every time."
