Charlton boss Alan Pardew has taken Darren Powell on trial at The Valley.
Pardew turns to former Saints stopper
Beleaguered Charlton boss Alan Pardew has taken Darren Powell on trial as he bids to pull the Addicks from the Championship basement.
A miserable campaign to date sees Charlton in 22nd place and Pardew is working hard to add fresh faces to his ranks.
The experienced and versatile Powell is currently without a club after being released by Southampton over the summer.
The 32-year-old Powell figured for Charlton's second string in midweek and although rusty, impressed reserve team boss Mark Kinsella.
"He has not played for quite some time because of injury but gave us that experience at the back," said Kinsella.
