Stoke City hope to sign Jon Fortune on loan, and are waiting on answers from Dominic Matteo and Salif Diao.

Charlton Athletic accepted a bid for Fortune last week, but the defender rejected a permanent move to The Britannia Stadium.

However, Stoke boss Tony Pulis is looking into a temporary deal for the player, who made 14 appearances while on loan at the club last season.

"Jon might come to us on a loan basis, but we're still in talks and I don't think anything will be done before next week," Pulis told the Sentinel.

Waiting

Pulis is also awaiting a decision from experienced duo Matteo and Diao regarding contract offers.

The pair impressed for Stoke last term and the Potters boss is hoping for a positive outcome.

"We're still in discussions with Dominic and we think we're close to a deal with him," added Pulis.

"We've also made Salif an offer and we're still waiting for him to respond."
