Charlton release duo

Charlton have released Uruguayan duo Omar Pouso and Gonzalo Sorondo.

Charlton have released Uruguayan duo Omar Pouso and Gonzalo Sorondo.

Addicks boss Alan Pardew has decided to let the pair leave as they do not figure in his long-term plans.

Sorondo initially joined Charlton on loan in the summer of 2005 before making the move permanent at the end of the 2005/2006 season.

The 27-year-old made only one appearance this term in the opening game of the season at West Ham as he has struggled for form and fitness.

Midfielder Pouso joined the club on a season-long loan from Penarol last summer, but he has not played since picking up an injury against Portsmouth in September.

Charlton have also revealed that the club's general manager Andrew Mills had left The Valley.

Mills arrived at Charlton at the start of the season as part of the new management structure under Iain Dowie.

Charlton chairman Richard Murray paid tribute to Mills for the work he had done in transfers during his time at the club.

"With me, Andrew secured all of the targets identified by Iain Dowie, as well as those by Alan Pardew during the January transfer window," Murray told the club's official website.

"I would like to thank him for all his hard work on behalf of the club."
