Charlton have had a bid accepted for Sheffield Wednesday defender Madjid Bougherra.
The Owls have accepted an improved offer of £2.5million from Charlton after rejecting their initial offer of £1.3million earlier this month.
Reading, Everton and Birmingham have also been credited with an interest in the Algerian defender, but Charlton have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a fee with Wednesday for the former Crewe man.
"Sheffield Wednesday have accepted an offer from Charlton Athletic for the transfer of Madjid Bougherra," read a club statement.
"The Owls had previously rejected a £1.3 million bid for the 24-year-old defender from the Addicks. But on Friday an improved offer was made which matched Wednesday's valuation for the Algerian international."
Bougherra is now set to travel to London to hold talks with Charlton officials and undergo a medical at The Valley.
