Clubs go quiet on Bougherra

Brian Laws admits the trail for Sheffield Wednesday defender Madjid Bougherra has gone quiet.

Bougherra has been interesting several clubs during the January transfer window, with Charlton Athletic having a £1.3million bid rejected.

Birmingham City have also enquired, although Steve Bruce has revealed he will not be meeting The Owls' £3million valuation of the centre-half.

Laws had previously acknowledged that Everton had also shown an interest in the Algerian, who arrived at Hillsborough last summer.

The Wednesday manager has now confirmed that no clubs have followed up their initial enquiries for Bougherra.

"As it stands now, and until such times change, Madjid Bougherra is a Sheffield Wednesday player," said Laws.

"That's the way it is. It's gone quiet at the moment and that's typical in football.

"There's certainly been no progress with regards to renewed approaches from other clubs."
