Dennis Rommedahl has claimed he will not consider playing in the Championship, if Charlton Athletic are relegated.
Charlton are fighting for Premiership survival, with new head coach Les Reed trying to lift the team out of the relegation zone.
Rommedahl insists he will give his all in the club's battle, but would be reluctant to hang around, if The Addicks succumb to the drop.
"I just want to play at the highest level and the Championship is not something I'd consider," Rommedahl told viasatsport.com.
"I am still ambitious and feel I am good enough for the top level. Of course you should be loyal to your club to a certain point.
"But my prime duty right now is to help Charlton to stay in the Premier League."
While the Danish winger would have concerns about his future, if Charlton are relegated, he is confident there is enough quality to climb to safety.
He added: "Personally, it's going well. Actually I am playing better than I have done for a long time, but the side is not delivering the goods at the moment.
"We are simply not scoring enough goals and, therefore, we are in the bottom.
"But I feel we can still save ourselves. We have got the potential for that."
