Charlton midfielder Simon Walton is to stay on loan at Ipswich until January.
The Addicks initially loaned the 18-year-old to Town for just one month, but the two clubs have now decided it would be in their best interests to agree a longer deal.
Ipswich boss Jim Magilton and Charlton counterpart Iain Dowie have negotiated a January 3 return for Walton.
Magilton is thrilled to keep Walton at Portman Road for another four months, and is confident the extra experience will benefit the teenager.
"When Simon goes back to Charlton he wants to be in contention for a first team place and that's the attitude I would expect," Magilton told the club's official website.
"But both Iain and I agree that it will benefit the lad if he stays here with us and plays regular first team football.
"That will give him valuable League experience.
"He has fitted in well with the lads in his short time here and we're delighted to keep him until January."
