Sochaux defender Souleymane Diawara could soon be heading for The Premiership.
According to reports emanating from the French press, Sochaux defender Souleymane Diawara could soon be heading for The Premiership.
The 27-year-old stopper has reportedly caught the eye of Charlton boss Iain Dowie, who would be eager to tie up a deal before Thursday's transfer deadline.
Diawara is a full Senegal international who has proven his credentials in the past few seasons with a series of impressive Ligue 1 displays and was previously being tracked by Newcastle and Portsmouth.
Charlton would need to lodge a bid in the region of é¼6 million (£4 million) to tempt Sochaux into a sale, with talks expected between the two parties later this week.
Meanwhile, Sochaux goalkeeper Teddy Richert has handed the club a boost by putting pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal.
The experienced shot-stopper was coveted by a number of clubs but has decided to remain loyal to Sochaux and stay with them until 2010.
