Jeffers ready to shine

Francis Jeffers is keen to show his quality for Rangers.

Francis Jeffers is keen to show he is getting back to the kind of form that took him into the England squad as he prepares for Rangers' UEFA Champions League clash against Internazionale.

Jeffers in on loan at Gers from Charlton, and is enjoying getting a regular game in Scotland.

"I've had a few games. I've not played for 90 minutes yet but my fitness is getting there," said Jeffers.

"I said when I came in that I would need football to get my sharpness back and to get back to my best.

"I'm getting those games so I'm happy."

Jeffers will be competing with a familiar face in the Inter defence, with former Everton team-mate Marco Materazzi an important member of the Italian side.

"He is a good player," added Jeffers. "I spent a couple of years with him at Everton.

"He was still young and was still learning and improving, but now he looks like a decent player and is playing well.

"Inter have a lot of big names, world-class players, but we have to try to produce a performance.

"It's a big game, that's why I came to Rangers, and it's nice to be involved."
