Charlton midfielder Darren Ambrose will miss England Under-21s European Championship Group Six qualifier with Germany on Tuesday.

Germany and England are level at the top of the group and have already booked their places in November's play-offs.

Therefore, the 21-year-old, who has complained of a tight groin, will be rested for the Mainz clash.

Wayne Diesel, head of The Addicks' medical department, told the club's official website: "We have corresponded with the England physios and Darren will not be risked."

Ambrose will also be absent from Charlton's trip to Birmingham on Saturday as the former Newcastle man serves the final game of a three-match suspension, imposed after his dismissal at Sunderland.
