TORQUAY are casting their eye over Charlie MacDonald, after Roy McFarland invited the Charlton forward to Devon for a trial.

The youngster has been a bit-part player under Alan Curbishley at The Valley, and is reported to be looking for a move in order to secure regular first-team football.

Gulls boss Roy McFarland confirmed the 20-year-old had arrived at Plainmoor, saying: "It is for both of us to have a look at each other."

MacDonald, who has experience of life in Division Three having had a loan spell at Cheltenham last term, has made just three appearances in The Premiership this season, but made a name for himself by netting a late leveller in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle before Christmas.

It is not known whether the 20-year-old wants to drop down three divisions, but his desire for regular action my facilitate a switch.
