Sheffield United snap up Adams

Sheffield United have signed teenage striker Che Adams from non-league side Ilkeston but are still in the hunt for more firepower.

The Blades have paid an undisclosed fee for the highly-rated 18-year-old, who has signed a three-year deal. "We had competition from Championship clubs and clubs at our level as well so we're delighted he's on board," said Blades manager Nigel Clough, who will be without injured forwards Michael Higdon and Marc McNulty at Doncaster this weekend. "He was 18 in July and 'raw' is the word you would use to describe him, but he's got some potential. "He's one very much for the future, although he will be around the first team, but we still need a stand-out striker." Adams was watched by a reported 45 scouts in his most recent match for Evostik Premier League side Ilkeston against Stamford.
