Sheffield United are poised to offer Derby's versatile defender Ben Davies a permanent contract.
Davies, who spent the last three months of the season on loan at Bramall Lane, is out of contract at Derby this summer. The 32-year-old scored three goals in 20 appearances for the Blades. "Ben will be offered something," manager Nigel Clough told the club's official website. "We know him, he has done well in the three months he has been here, he fills in, gets the odd goal - the three he scored all turned out to be winners. "We'd like him around but he may have offers from elsewhere - we'll see what happens." Clough's plans for next season are well underway and the club expect to release their retained list later this week. The Blades are understood to be ready offer new deals to striker Chris Porter, defender Bob Harris and goalkeeper Mark Howard, while another defender, Matt Hill, has been released. "There's a lot of talking to agents and players, if we can get to them," Clough added. "We have our list of targets, our preferred choices, in terms of the players we want to bring in."
