Scougall: Size doesn't matter

Sheffield United midfielder Stefan Scougall is walking proof that size does not necessarily matter in the Football League.

The 21-year-old is only 5ft 7in, but was a target for several clubs both north and south of the border before sealing a £400,000 transfer from Scottish Championship club Livingston to Bramall Lane in January. Blades boss Nigel Clough had no hesitation in pitching the diminutive playmaker straight into battle in League One and his decision appears to have been vindicated. "I don't shirk out of tackles, I do get up against my man and I work hard for the team," Scougall said. He has been a regular under Clough and fired his third goal in 14 appearances in last Sunday's FA Cup semi-final defeat to Hull at Wembley. "It's not like I don't want to get involved in the rough side of the game, I try to do my fair share, if I don't win all my 50/50s then so be it, but I bring other things. "I have that good sense of balance and low centre of gravity and that definitely makes it more difficult to knock me off the ball."
