Hines and Turner on Town trial

Swindon have handed trials to striker Zavon Hines and goalkeeper Iain Turner ahead of the forthcoming season.

Former West Ham forward Hines spent last season with Championship club Burnley, where he made two starts and 15 substitute appearances. The 23-year-old finished the campaign on loan at Bournemouth before being released by the Clarets. Scottish keeper Turner, 28, was one of 21 players released by Preston in May. He spent eight years at Everton but only made eight first-team appearances, with the majority of his time at the Premier League club spent out on loan. Turner played 12 games for Preston last season before being sent to Dunfermline but his loan spell in Scotland was cut short because of injury. Swindon manager Paolo Di Canio has been looking to sign another goalkeeper as understudy for Wes Foderingham after he released second choice Phil Smith and youngster Mark Scott. Both Hines and Turner are likely to feature in Town's pre-season friendly against Salisbury on Friday.
