Steve Davies has confirmed he is ready to leave Championship side Derby County and has hinted of a move down south.
The 24-year-old striker had been offered a new three-year contract by Rams boss Nigel Clough but the player turned it down citing 'family reasons' for his decision.
The club's joint top scorer last season is now expected to move on, with Ipswich Town strong favourites to land the player this summer.
Writing a message to Derby fans on Twitter, Davies said: "Sorry guys and girls. Unfortunately I am leaving and I know people are sceptical but it is honestly for family reasons.
"Me and my family have loved it here and I have loved playing for #dcfc (Derby County FC) but it's time to move on. You have been great fans thank you. My family are actually from London so I think it will be down south but not 100% just yet. Thanks for the support."
Davies made a little more than 50 starts during his four seasons at Derby, scoring 21 goals - 12 of which came last season.
Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is a known admirer of Davies having brought his fellow Liverpudlian to County from Tranmere in 2008.
