As this season's competition begins ahead of the Football League campaign, clubs had the option to schedule their first round matches during the preceding weekend rather than the traditional midweek kick-off times.
The two sides met for the first time in a competitive fixture last season in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, with the Blades winning 2-1 at the Pirelli Stadium after Justin Richards' goal gave Albion the lead.
The game at Bramall Lane will kick-off at 3pm.
