Smith sees Florent flourish

Walsall manager Dean Smith hopes Belgian teenager Florent Cuvelier can be the key to the club staying in League One.

The 19-year-old midfielder celebrated the extension of his loan stay from Stoke with the winner in a 1-0 triumph at relegation rivals Scunthorpe - lifting the Saddlers out of the bottom four. It was the second goal in three starts for Cuvelier, which earned his side only their second away win of the season. "He scored a great goal that has helped us to a great result," Smith said. "He was the only one who was aware of the hesitation in the Scunthorpe defence and he finished so well. "We have got Florent now until the end of the season and I can only thank Stoke for letting him come to us. "Technically he is a very good player and he had done really well for us in the games he has played. Long may that continue."
