Chris Morgan refuses to rule himself out of playing for Sheffield United again this season after succumbing to long-term injury.
The long-serving defender, who has been with the Blades since 2003 and joined the club's coaching staff this summer, has been out of action for 14 months with a cruciate knee ligament problem.
But the 34-year-old is not ready to hang up his boots just yet, insisting he aims to take to the field in the Blades' promotion bid.
"I hope to step up and work harder and do more in January," he told the club's official website.
"I would love to play some part in the run in, make myself available as cover if a player was injured or suspended, then i would be able to come in and play a part.
"My gut feeling is that I will be back before the end of the season, I would love to be able to say to gaffer 'my knee is OK, I have done my training. I am here if you need me, use me."'
