Walsall skipper Andy Butler believes the League One club is on the right path to ending their eight-match winless streak.
The Saddlers have drawn their last two league matches 1-1 against Wycombe and Carlisle respectively, while their Johnstone's Paint Trophy second-round tie at Rochdale also finished by the same scoreline after 90 minutes before Dean Smith's side lost 3-1 on penalties. Speaking ahead of Saturday's home clash against high-flying Preston, Butler told Walsall's official website: "Performances are getting better now. Things are moving in the right direction and we just need that extra bit of luck along the way. "We earned a battling point at Wycombe on Saturday and it means we are still unbeaten in 90 minutes during October, which is a positive thing. "I felt the lads up front did well in the last game, they pressed them and never gave up to eventually get their reward with a deserved equaliser from Alex (Nicholls). The one thing that Saturday did prove is that we have players on the bench now who are more than capable of coming on and changing games. "The supporters can see we are trying to play football the right way and they really got behind us at Wycombe. We know that by everyone working together and pulling in the same direction we can get back to winning ways and kick on from there."
