Turner set for reserves return

Goalkeeper Iain Turner will make his return to action in a reserves match on Wednesday ahead of Preston's clash with Walsall.

The 27-year-old has been out for a month after breaking the big toe on his right foot in the 4-3 win against Yeovil. Stand-in Andreas Arestidou has proved a fine stand-in, although manager Phil Brown hinted that should Turner come through the second-string clash against Macclesfield unscathed, he will be in line to face the Saddlers at the weekend. "Iain is very close now (to returning). He's been training with us but not at 100% because he couldn't strike the ball fully with his right foot," Brown told the Lancashire Evening Post. "But I've got to say that Iain has been kicking the ball a long way with his left foot, it's a bit of a swinger but when somone is 6ft 4ins they have great leverage. "We've got a few more days to work on his fitness and I'll listen to what he has to say and what the physio has to say before the Walsall game."
