Blades skipper raring to go

Sheffield United skipper Nick Montgomery is ready to return to first-team action following his six-match injury lay-off.

Montgomery, who has been struggling with an ankle injury sustained at Yeovil in August, is hoping to play some part against leaders Charlton at Bramall Lane on Saturday after coming through 90 minutes for the reserves in midweek unscathed. Montgomery told the club's official website: "It was good to come back ahead of schedule and I'm pleased to show the gaffer that I am ready. "Obviously from my point of view I hope I have put myself in the frame for the weekend. "The last month has been very tough watching matches. I'm not a good watcher. I just want to be out there on the pitch. "I end up kicking every ball and it's frustrating, but we have been playing very well."
