Blackpool have signed former Aberdeen goalkeeper Mark Howard as cover on a contract until January.

Holloway happy Howard agreed to short-term contract

Blackpool have signed former Aberdeen goalkeeper Mark Howard as cover on a contract until January. Howard has been training with the Seasiders for the past couple of weeks after leaving SPL side Aberdeen at the end of last season. The 25-year-old has now agreed a short-term contract at Bloomfield Road, with Blackpool having fitness concerns over Matt Gilks and Mark Halstead. The ex-St Mirren keeper could be on the bench for Saturday's Championship game at Portsmouth and Seasiders boss Ian Holloway is happy to have added Howard to his squad. "We're glad Mark has accepted the terms we offered him," said Holloway. "We took a look at him in a couple of behind-closed-doors practice games, and he looked solid. "We had four keepers last year, and we started this season with only two, so we needed somebody else and I'm pleased Mark has joined."
